Charities use fundraisers to run or help with running several of their programs. Fundraisers are professionals who market charitable organizations in order to raise funds to empower a charity to continue with its mission. The fundraisers who look after vehicle donations handle  advertising for the program while also taking care of the collection of auto donations and the sale and paperwork of donated cars.

When you see information about auto donation in a newspaper, on television or on a hoarding, it is probable it was put there by the fundraiser. The exposure from advertising is increased with fundraisers, but the price to the charity is not increased.

When you call to arrange the donation, it is  a staff member from the fundraiser who takes your call and organizes for pick up of your used car. The fundraiser arranges transfer of title or makes provision for a salvage title through the state department of motor vehicles. The auctions at which the autos are sold are arranged by the fundraiser.

The work of fundraisers lowers the office costs of the charity. The fee charged by the fundraiser is less than an individual charity would have to pay to provide these services for themselves. A recent investigation into car donation programs indicated that, on average, charities receive more than half of the total proceeds from the sale of each vehicle. When you donate a used car to a selected charity it helps ensure funds for your charity so it can carry on with its mission.
